INSTRUCTIONS

Welcome to the HTML Basics ++ badgz.

To complete this badge and the rest of the badges in this course you will need to set up your development environment. This is where you will actually programme your website

We call this environment an IDE (Integrated Developer Environment)

You have quite a few options :-

Quozr websites
Free & easy to use.  Create as many pages/sites as you like with no branding or ads.
Outputs live on the internet (or private if you wish)
You could even buy your own domain name and link to it for a free web hosting service
You can also submit your evidence directly from this page.
All of quozr.com is free. Please watch this introductory video

REPL.IT
Offers a great interface for many programming languages and is free.
Creatre a new webpage - click the PLus + button on the right and choose HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT
You can open your pages in a new window by clicking the link on the right (you'll find it)
https://repl.it/

CodePen.IO

Offers free 'Pens' which you use to practice your coding skills on.
There is a nice interface and you can share and embed your code - good for submitting evidence
This is one of the largest developer platforms in the world!
There are paid options on codepen as well
https://codepen.io/

W3Scools.com
Another huge learning resource. You can also create a (1 only) web page - unless you pay to upgrade. Literally everything you need to know to get you started is explained on this site.

Software-based IDEs
There are many but the biggest player is Dreamweaver - you will need to buy it and install it on your machine.
Great for existing developers but you might want to learn the basics first.

Front Page
Microsoft also has an HTML IDE in its office suite called Front Page. Easy to use.
Used often for I/GCSE courses

CLAIM THIS BADGE

You only need to decide on what Developer Environment or environments you will use.

You can use more than one if you wish.

Best to find one that allows you to work on your sites anywhere, so cloud based - plus of course you can use these badges.
